Sad passing of Lynn Willis from Chaosium

Wee Gamers, keen Call of Cthulhu roleplay gamers, are deeply sad to hear of the passing of Lynn Willis, a very important member of the Chaosium team.

While he had been associated with Games Designers Workshop and West End Games, it is with Chaosium that he became most associated.

He had been suffering from Parkinson's for some time but this became public knowledge in 2008.  He passed away on 18 January 2013 whilst in hospital for treatment.

His relationship with Chaosium has proved the most enduring and dedicated of all his forays. He helped Greg Stafford trim and refine the RuneQuest rules into Basic Role-Playing, the rules that would serve as the basis for many of Chaosium's RPG lines. He is also included in the design credits for Worlds of Wonder (1982) and the Ringworld RPG (1984).
He co-wrote the Ghostbusters RPG for West End Games, winning the H.G. Wells Award for Best Role-playing Rules of 1986 for this.   He also took on developing new editions of Stormbringer and Call of Cthulhu. Throughout, he edited, and sometimes wrote for, Chaosium supplements.
He was not only editor-in-chief but the longest-running member of the Chaosium staff.

It is noted on the Chaosium website,

We are sad to announce the passing of Lynn Willis, a pillar of Chaosium, Call of Cthulhu, and of the roleplaying community. Lynn had been combating aging and illness for several years, and passed while in a hospital for treatment. He is survived by his partner Marcia, and a community of friends and admirers. Lynn began in gaming as a board game designer, and entered Chaosium with Lords of the Middle Sea. He was the third employee of Chaosium, first as an editor and then as the mastermind behind the entire Call of Cthulhu line, as well as other projects, for the decades that he was with us. He loved his work and brought all his abilities to the job. He was incredibly smart, astonishingly widely read, detail oriented, and capable. He is largely responsible for the high quality, playability, and popularity of the leading horror RPG in our field.
