Gygax is back!

"At the end of 2012 TSR and Gygax shall rise again" is a prophecy more implausible than the Mayan 'end of the world' thing everyone keeps talking about.  But there you go, IT is happening.  Not the end of the world bit (otherwise this won't really matter), the TSR/Gygax thing.
Gary Gygax was synonymous with Dungeons and Dragons and with TSR.  First TSR was laid to rest and then, unfortunately, so was Mr Gygax.  While we remember with rummy eyes the heydays and the brutal cutting down of TSR, its story seems far from over.

This December will see Gygax Magazine published.  at the moment if you go to Gygax Magazine or even TSR Games you will see a place holder and the ability to sign up to an email alert. All that was known up until a few days ago was that it had been set up with the intention of re-instating the TSR brand, which lapsed about nine to ten years ago after Wizards of the Coast bought over the old TSR.  It was registered again in 2011 by a number of guys including Jayson Elliot, Ernie Gygax, Luke Gygax, Tim Kask, James Carpio, and Jim Wampler.   It has been noted that their intention is to first release a gaming magazine, hence Gygax Magazine.

Then in popped an email recently giving an update on the magazine as it gets closer to publication.
Here's the contents of issue number one — we hope you're looking forward to reading it as much as we're looking forward to getting it out!The Cosmology of Role Playing Games by James CarpioStill Playing After All These Years by Tim KaskLeomund's Secure Shelter by Len LakofkaThe Ecology of the Banshee by Ronald CornBridging Generations by Luke GygaxThe Gygax Family Storyteller by Ernie GygaxKeeping Magic Magical by Dennis SustareGaming With a Virtual Tabletop by Nevin P. Interesting contents indeed.  Could this be a re-imagining of gaming magazines of old and brought up to date?

Can't wait to see the first edition out.  We will give it a good read over and see if it was worth the wait :)

In the meantime Jennisodes RPG podcast interviews Jayson Elliot. Have a listen.
