Ai! Fhtagn! Chaosium take the Orient Express to Kickstarter

Horror on the Orient Express is a Call of Cthulhu campaign that was released in 1991 as a boxed set. And I still remember it.  Though I never bought it I did get to have a look at it.  A thing of beauty indeed.

It included a 28-page Strangers booklet, a Campaign booklet, three adventure books, a 28-page Player's Handouts booklet, cardstock maps of the train, and various other maps and handout material. Everything you needed.

And it got rave reviews.

Now Chaosium have opened the portal to call upon great Cthulhu to get his Fhtagn on in Kickstarter!

This is a re-imagining of the original campaign, with an expanded roster of NPCs and new chapters and revisions by the original authors. The booklets will have improved card stock covers, will feature additional art, and the handouts will be expanded to include a matchbox, similar to the one included in our very first boxed campaign Masks of Nyarlathotep in 1984. Premise of the Campaign: a puzzling headline begins a front-page article found in the Times of London. Three men, all identified as the same man, were found in the same room of the Chelsea Arms. All were killed in the same manner — stabbed through the heart. Horror on the Orient Express contains a massive adventure for the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game. Beginning in 1920s London, the investigators journey to Paris and then to the ancient city of Constantinople, officially renamed Istanbul in 1930. The campaign is made up of four legs of the journey, each contained in its own book: Through the Alps, Italy and Eastern Europe, Constantinople & Return, and Strangers On The Train. Take part in this epic adventure either as keeper or as an investigator. Either way, you are in for a harrowing and exciting adventure!

  • The 4-book scenario collection
  • 4 blank passports for your players' characters
  • Vintage-looking stickers
  • Fold out posters of the layout of the Orient Express train cars
  • Newspaper handouts
  • A book of other handouts
  • Orient Express Matchbox (Because of pesky rules regarding incendiary items, the matchbox may be filled with toothpicks.)
Looks like there will be quite a few stretch goals including a brand new anthology "MADNESS ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS" will collect nearly two-dozen all-original tales of supernatural terror featuring the fabled train and its doom-haunted waypoints, edited by award-winning author and anthologist James Lowder, with contributions from such notable scribes of the horrific and the fantastic as:

The target is to have the whole project ready for release in August 2013.
